Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 1, 2026 | Last Updated: March 1, 2026
JAMQpro ("we," "us," or "our") is a digital jam night management platform operated by Jarratt VanDyke. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your data. It applies to the JAMQpro iOS mobile application and the JAMQpro web application at jamqpro.com (collectively, the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account registration: first name, last name, and email address.
- Password: stored in hashed form; we never store plain-text passwords.
- Musician profile (optional): primary and secondary instrument, additional instruments, skill level, musical genres, a short bio, zip code, preferred search radius, and links to your personal website, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok pages.
- Organizer profile (optional): bio, business phone number, business email address, years of experience, and voluntary tipping links (Venmo, PayPal, CashApp, Apple Pay).
- Queue sign-up details: instrument played, performance type (solo with house band, partial band, full band, or karaoke), karaoke song title and artist name, optional notes, and optional band/group name.
- Venue information (organizers): venue name, address, city, state, and other details submitted when creating or claiming a venue listing.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Precise location (iOS only, optional): When you grant location permission, the app collects your approximate GPS coordinates (kilometer-level accuracy) solely to show nearby jam nights. Location is only collected while the app is in use ("When In Use" permission) and is never used for advertising or sold to third parties. If you deny location permission, the Service falls back to coordinates derived from your zip code.
- Push notification device token (iOS only): When you allow push notifications, Apple provides a device token that we store and use exclusively to send you queue-status alerts (e.g., "You're On Deck," "You're Playing Now," event updates, and achievement notifications).
- Usage and performance data: performance history, attendance records, no-show count, total event count, achievements earned, and similar in-app activity derived from your use of the queue system.
- Log and technical data: standard web-server logs (IP address, browser or app version, request timestamps, HTTP status codes) retained for security and debugging purposes.
1.3 Payment Information
Organizer subscription payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We never see or store your full credit card number, CVV, or bank account details. Stripe returns a customer ID and subscription ID that we store to manage your subscription status. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
- Display your musician or organizer profile to other users of the Service.
- Show you jam nights, open mics, and karaoke events near you.
- Manage queue sign-ups and communicate queue-position changes to you in real time.
- Send push notifications (iOS) and email notifications about your queue status, event updates, invitations, and achievements.
- Process organizer subscription payments.
- Award achievements based on your performance history.
- Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Service.
- Improve the Service through aggregated, de-identified analytics.
We do not use your information to serve behavioral advertising, build advertising profiles, or sell your data to data brokers.
3. How We Share Your Information
3.1 Visible to Other Users
Your display name, primary instrument, bio, and social-media links on your public profile are visible to other logged-in users. Your queue sign-up (name, instrument, performance type, song choice for karaoke) is visible to the event organizer and, depending on event settings, to other attendees viewing the public queue.
3.2 Service Providers
We share data with the following third-party service providers only to the extent necessary to operate the Service:
| Provider | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| Railway | Cloud hosting & infrastructure | All data stored on platform |
| Stripe | Payment processing (organizer subscriptions) | Name, email, payment details |
| SendGrid (Twilio) | Transactional email delivery | Email address, notification content |
| Twilio (SMS) | Optional SMS notifications | Phone number, notification content |
| Gravatar (Automattic) | Profile avatar images | One-way MD5 hash of your email address |
| Apple APNs | iOS push notifications | Device token, notification payload |
3.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or valid governmental request, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of JAMQpro, our users, or the public.
3.4 Business Transfers
If JAMQpro is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent in-app notice before your data is subject to a different privacy policy.
4. Location Data
The iOS app requests "When In Use" location access to surface nearby jam nights. We collect approximate GPS coordinates (kilometer-level accuracy) only while the app is open and you have granted permission. Location data is sent to our servers as query parameters to filter event results and is not stored persistently as a location history log.
You may revoke location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → JAMQpro. The app will continue to function using your zip code as a fallback.
5. Push Notifications
With your permission, the iOS app registers for Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to deliver real-time queue alerts. Your device token is stored on our servers and associated with your account. We use it solely to send you service-related notifications (queue position changes, event updates, achievements). We do not use it for advertising.
You can disable push notifications at any time in Settings → Notifications → JAMQpro or from within the app.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. Performance history and achievement records are retained indefinitely to support leaderboards and milestone tracking, unless you request deletion. Payment transaction records are retained for seven (7) years to comply with financial record-keeping requirements. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You may access and update most of your profile information directly in the app. You also have the right to:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated personal data. Submit a request to [email protected]. We will process deletion within 30 days, subject to legal retention obligations.
- Portability: request an export of your personal data in a machine-readable format.
- Opt-out of notifications: disable email or push notifications at any time through your account settings or device settings.
California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights.
8. Children's Privacy
JAMQpro is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit, hashed password storage (Django's PBKDF2 algorithm), and token-based authentication for API access. Two-factor authentication (TOTP) is available for added account security. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Third-Party Links
Organizer and musician profiles may display links to external platforms (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Venmo, PayPal, etc.). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those platforms. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before interacting with them.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where required by law, notify you by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
